Probably about 5 minutes after Twitter announces their business model or sells to Microsoft.
People may claim they want 'Freedom' but they won't do anything about it until something bad happens. See: http://diveintomark.org/archives/2004/05/14/freedom-0
On the bright side #jaikuengine is fairly active and our issue tracker/road map shows that we're making progress.
The standard open source answer also applies: we'll get there sooner if you help.
